We have been the sole continuous subcontractor for the major producers of aluminium flat rolled products in Europe, including Aleris, Aludium, Constellium, Hydro, Novelis and Slim.
In the architectural sector, Aloxide has been used projects include offices, residential, retail and institutional buildings throughout the world, including buildings designed by leading architectural practices such as Fosters, Gehry Partners, OMA, Jean Nouvel, Chartier Dalix, Coop Himmelb(l)au and Morphosis.

The production of Aloxide is ISO 9001 compliant throut the design, development, production and sales
Aloxide products are produced in plants that have ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 certificates.
Aloxide architectural products conform with Class I and Class II of the American AAMA 611 standards.
As an integral part of the surface of the aluminium, anodised aluminium is an exceptionally durable product and generally will not age through fading or corrosion.
By comparison, paint or coatings are a layer on the aluminium which are often designed to provide the same pure aspect of anodised aluminium but do not provide the same level of surface protection or UV resistance.
For example, anodised aluminium performs very well in maritime and polluted inner-city environments.
For this reason and based on over 45 years of on-site experience, Aloxide is backed by simple, no nonsense guarantees with minimal exclusions.
The length of the guarantee will depend on the product application and the anodic film layer.
For architectural applications, the guarantee may even cover the design life of the building.

The economies of scale of our two production sites in Belgium and Germany permit us to invest in industry-leading environmental management.
Coil operates in the Flemish Region of Belgium and Germany, which have amongst the strictest environmental standards in the world.
The Aloxide process is an electrochemical process, involving high energy usage. However, this energy consumption must be seen in the light of:
the extreme longevity of the product, and that anodised aluminium can be sold and recycled through simple re-melting (without any intervening process) at the end of its product life requiring only 5% of the energy required to produce primary aluminium.
To minimize our CO² impact, we are committed to ISO 50001 energy management and assess the life cycle of its products (LCA). Furthermore, unlike painted and coated products, anodised aluminium has no impact on other climate ozone depleting substances such as VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds),
Coil reveals ambitious plans for early compliance with new EU 2030 climate and energy targets
The European Commission’s 2030 climate and energy framework includes EU-wide targets and policy objectives for the period 2021 - 2030.
The key targets for 2030 for the European Commission are:
- at least 40% cuts in greenhouse gas emissions (from 1990 levels)
- at least 32% share for renewable energy
- at least 32.5% improvement in energy efficiency
Coil has launched an ambitious plan which is designed to already in 2020 meet – and even exceed -the targets of the European Commission.
At our production plant in Bernburg, Germany, the plan is to operate with 100% CO²-free energy by end-2020. This will be achieved with the installation of solar panels on the free land on the factory site and on the roofs of the production halls. This will be coupled with a cogeneration system with biogas. Any excess energy and heat- beyond the Company’s own consumption - will be sold into the grid.
At our production site in Landen, Belgium, a cogeneration system has already been operating successfully for a number of years.. A new solar panel installation on the roofs of the existing factory is scheduled to be installed in 2020.
In both plants several actions have already been taken to reduce energy consumption and to improve energy efficiency, such as the use of LED lights and the implementation of energy monitoring systems in accordance with the ISO 50001 Standard.
Even though the production process involves the use of acid and caustic soda, we are able to recycle a very large part of the chemicals via regeneration facilities, while the by-products from these processes are used in other industries.
Water purification facilities assure that our companytypically recycles 60% of our rinse water. Non-recycled waste water is discharged into the public sewer system according the enforced norms, after treatment.
We make a constant effort to make sure that we will use the best available technology (BAT) for our processes and commit to environment management via ISO 14001.
Transformation and technical details
One of the main benefits of aluminium is that it can be mechanically transformed like most other metals such as steel, stainless steel, copper lead and zinc.
Aloxide products have a flexible anodic film layer meaning that transformation can occur after anodising.
Cut-to-length of anodised aluminium in coil form
The transformation of coils of continuously anodised aluminium into sheets requires specialist equipment and specialist knowledge. This should only be carried out by approved specialist service centres.
